It's good to rely on things for basic needs like money for food or a partner for a measure of love but the number one on the list is our higher power. If God is my number one, I firstly rely on Him before anything else for everything and I worship Him first. If I'm my own higher power then I rely solely on myself for everything in life. If my higher power is love then I rely on love for everything in life.
Explore different religious beliefs, research history and consider what happens after death. Paint a personal picture of the truth of reality and then commit to the ways of your higher power. Even if you currently have a higher power I would still advise doing research until you are fully convinced in the deepest parts of your spirit, soul, mind, body and everything that you are.
